Inland Rail

Inland Rail is a transformative undertaking, establishing a dedicated freight rail corridor of over 1700km connecting Melbourne and Brisbane via regional NSW and Queensland. This nationally significant infrastructure is being developed to enhance Australia’s freight network, improving supply chain efficiency, reducing transit times and alleviating pressure on existing road infrastructure.

IAG supported Inland Rail across the program providing multidisciplinary services including strategic delivery, commercial, constructability, environmental and organisational design advisory to enable the successful delivery of complex brownfield and greenfield works.

IAG played a key role in developing and implementing Inland Rail’s accelerated procurement and contract strategy across Queensland and New South Wales, advising on commercial frameworks, market engagement and innovative solutions to complex technical and organisational challenges. IAG also delivered constructability and delivery strategy advice for the Tottenham to Albury corridor, ensuring alignment between technical requirements, procurement documentation and commercial and legal frameworks. This work supported effective scope definition, interface management and value-for-money outcomes across major work packages.

IAG provided extensive environment and planning advisory services, including program-wide environmental assessment frameworks, EIS review and compliance monitoring under the EPBC Act. An IAG team led ‘Project Evolution’ – a transformational program to define and implement an operating model, organisational design and workforce planning to support the project moving from planning to construction phase.

Most recently IAG’s commercial resources have advised on contract variations and draft change, as well as work proactively with project stakeholders to identify potential issues and claims early, developing strategies to address and manage issues to avoid escalation.
