Greater Western Water (GWW) is a Victorian Government water corporation providing essential drinking water, recycled water, sewerage, and trade waste services to more than 1.43 million people living and working across our service region. The NextGen program includes Major Capital works, Network Renewals, Dams & Minor Capital works covering all phases of the Asset lifecycle from Master Planning to Delivery and Closure. They are procuring: Planning and Engineering Services Partners, Construction Partners including Treatment Construction Partner, Major Works Construction Partners, and Networks Renewals Construction Partners (water and sewer); and Supply Chain Partners.

GWW is implementing the Next Generation Infrastructure Program (NextGen Program) to evolve its planning, technical and delivery partnering and commercial arrangements. The Program addresses the growing scale and complexity of forecast investment, the requirement to streamline and standardise processes and the need to uplift internal capability and augment it with partner capability. Most critically, it is driven by the need to ensure that GWW can efficiently and effectively deliver its capital program, in doing so meeting GWW’s strategic goals and delivering on regulatory commitments and customer expectations.

At the outset of the engagement, IAG brought it’s organisation transformation and transaction expertise to establish a risk-based assurance plan to guide the assurance scope and reporting cadence. IAG also developed bi-monthly assurance reports for internal use and strategic reporting, with actionable, prioritised recommendations, and provided verbal briefings to executives as required. The team are continuing to conduct bi-monthly assurance reviews, major milestone reviews, and reviewing and providing feedback on the readiness acceptance criteria developed by GWW.  These activities, supported by the Risk Assurance Framework, are designed to provide a comprehensive “health check” on the NextGen Program.
