Two multi-billion-dollar transport projects are being delivered on the Sunshine Coast to support rapid population growth and improve regional connectivity. The Wave Stage 3 (Metro) will introduce a high-capacity bus rapid transit system linking Birtinya, the Sunshine Coast University Hospital, Maroochydore CBD and the Sunshine Coast Airport, supporting travel during the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games and delivering a lasting public transport legacy. The Mooloolah River Interchange Upgrade (MRI Upgrade) will address long-standing safety and congestion issues on the Sunshine Motorway and improve critical north–south connectivity as part of The Wave—a broader program of generational transport investment.

The projects are being delivered through a combination of program alliances for the civil works and an integrated operations and maintenance contract covering the depot, fleet procurement and long-term service delivery, with operations scheduled to commence ahead of the Brisbane 2032 Games.

IAG is supporting the client through this complex and highly visible program by providing embedded project and commercial leadership, leading the procurement of the civil and O&M delivery models, and advising on constructability and delivery integration. This approach is helping to manage interface risk, balance accelerated timeframes with probity and value for money, and provide confidence of successful delivery under heightened public and political scrutiny.
