On 4 November 2022, the South West REZ was declared by the Minister under Section 19 of the EII Act (South West REZ Declaration), which set out an intended network capacity for the South West REZ of 2.5 GW. The South West Renewable Energy Zone (REZ) is approximately 24,000 square kilometres in size and encompasses a number of key regional centres. The SW REZ Access Scheme will provide greater certainty to generation and storage investors, foster community support and regional economic benefits and optimise the use of the network infrastructure.

In April 2025, 4 developers were awarded the right to access the network within the South West REZ, and subsequently an Access Project Development Agreement (Access PDAs) was entered into between NSW EnergyCo and each developer. IAG provided a commercial manager as an embedded member of the EnergyCo South West REZ project team to provide oversight and management of the Access PDAs, including regular reporting between developers and EnergyCo, as well upstream to senior leaders within EnergyCo, along with the review, assessment and resolution of claims arising out of the Access PDAs.
