Macquarie Point Urban Renewal Precinct

The urban renewal of the Macquarie Point (Mac Point) precinct including the development of a new multipurpose stadium in Hobart aims to provide a significant opportunity for heightening the social engagement, economic development and urban revitalisation of a historic industrial site adjacent to the Port of Hobart at Mac Point.

IAG’s team supported the Tasmanian Government in developing a procurement strategy for the delivery of the Mac Point Stadium and any potential development opportunities within the Mac Point Site and broader precinct. The team led and delivered a comprehensive market engagement process, including a formal market sounding with more than 30 participants across the private and public sectors. This involved preparing briefing materials, facilitating and leading meetings, and documenting outcomes through a Market Sounding Brief and Market Sounding Report that captured key themes, feedback and discussion points to inform Government decision-making.

Building on these insights, the team developed a detailed Procurement Options Report assessing a range of delivery models to recommend a preferred shortlist. This work included defining project and procurement objectives, analysing project characteristics, budget, program and operational considerations and identifying delivery constraints and opportunities. The team also explored precinct development and packaging options to leverage private investment, facilitated stakeholder workshops to agree procurement and assessment criteria and developed an evaluation framework aligned with the National PPP Guidelines to support the recommended procurement strategy.
